| The shipyard is located on the foreshores
of the mighty Subic Bay Port which was home to the US Navy
over the past hundred years. Subic Bay was once the largest military base
outside of the United States. The harbor offers safe mooring to ships
under all weather conditions. The base has now been transformed into an
industrial "Free Port Zone". Security
is monitored around the clock. Historically, the OPSI yard accommodated the US Navy ships repair facility for aircraft carriers, battleships, submarines and patrol vessels. The fabrication and assembly building, known as "Building 41" on "Bravo Wharf" covers a floor area of 300 ft x 140 ft (92 meters x 43 meters). The high central bay is fitted with overhead cranes of 25 and 5 ton capacity. The head room under the crane is 12 meters. |
